[There's a moment of silence from the get-go, but Masato quietly begins to speak, the emotionless tone evidently forced. It still takes him a minute or so to gain the courage to ask this next question.]

...Is anyone skilled in basic first aid available to answer a few questions regarding... broken bones? Or fractures? It's a little urgent but...

[There's another pause. He's struggling a little, but just takes a deep breath. He's a man; real men can handle this.]

Nothing life-threatening. I'd appreciate whatever assistance offered. Thank you.

Well, mostly for humanoids, but I guess that's everybody here. What do you need?

[No, they've never met, but Trance has never let that stop her before.]

I appreciate any help you can provide. It's my hand. I... I need to immobilize it until I reach a pokemon centre to treat it properly. Or... A way to treat it without lasting injury.

[She makes a considering noise.]

Can you turn the video on? Hands are hard, without all the medical equipment we have on the Andromeda, but I'm sure we can make something work. What happened to your hand?

I... Give me a moment.

[There's a long moment of hesitation before his connection terminates for a second. He decides to lock the feed and switch to video. With that, he holds up his right hand, where the index, middle, and ring finger are all swolen and bright red.]

I took a bit of a tumble... from a ledge. Landed roughly on my dominant hand.

Oh, that does look painful. [She leans a bit closer to the screen, brushing her hair back and studying his hand calmly as only someone used to fixing up her crew can.]

Can you bend them at all? And how long have they been swollen? I never realized ledges were so mean here.

[He sighs.] They're only mean when you tumble from one. But... it's been approximately eight hours. It happened in the early hours of the morning; I didn't want to wake anyone asking for advice.

I can't move them without pain.

[She gives him a motherly sort of look that might seem a bit strange on someone who looks her age.]

If you don't have anyone else, I give you permission to call me any time. My name's Trance. I'm working at the Breeding Centre in Goldenrod, so I'm up weird times with the eggs and the fosters, anyway.

Do you have an ice or water type? If you can get the swelling down, that should help.

[He's already getting weird motherly vibes and it, oddly, has him shrinking back a little. What is this caring nonsense.]

I... do not have either of those types yet. All I've got is grass and poison types.

[She cares about everyone. Almost the entire universe, actually. And each and every one of them is still special.]

You'll have to make do the old-fashioned way then. Ice it as soon as you can, if you pass a house you can borrow some from or a cool stream or lake you can use water from.

Until then, you can at least keep them immobile. Don't wrap them tightly, but you can use a pencil or a stick or just about anything with some soft cloth to keep them straight, then make yourself a sling if you haven't already. The less you move or hurt them before someone else can help you, the better.

[Too much caring! But hey, as long as she's not a hug-everyone kind of person either... That'll scare him a little. Well, either way he appreciates the advice.]

Alright. I found a small grid ruler from my sewing kit, and some medical wrap. I... haven't made a sling, though. I should have some cloth.

[He just sighs.] This is quite bothersome.

[She does like hugs, but no, she wouldn't hug anyone who didn't want it. Hugs are supposed to be good things for everyone involved.]

If you've got a shirt or a jacket you wouldn't mind pinning or tying, I could probably help you with that. Or even a belt or something, if you're not too far from a town.

[She tilts her head.] It usually is when you get hurt. Especially if you're by yourself.

[They can be same-room-standing-at-a-small-distance-apart buddies. Masato likes those kinds of buddies.]

I've... got the remains of a sweater I can probably use. I'm... in between towns at the moment. I don't want to backtrack to Ecruteak so I figured continuing to Goldenrod is a safe bet, as it would take the same amount of time either way.

[With a small nod, he just looks down. Just the idea of getting started is enough to make him hesitate.]

[And she'll be fine with that, as long as he's happy.]

Oh! You can't be that far, then. If you want me to come meet you, I can bring some supplies from Goldenrod to help you make it the rest of the way.

[She smiles brightly.] It'll be an adventure!

[Coolest person evar. :3]

That... would be very much appreciated. I don't wish to trouble you though, if you're busy.

Of course it's no trouble! [That gets him another motherly look, as if she has better things to do than help people!]

I'll leave as soon as I have everything together. If you need anything else before I find you, you know how to reach me.
